Starting from the top of the chairlift, this is *not* the way to get to Kosciuszko peak, although you'd get a nice view of it on a good day - which is probably best to attempt not in near-whiteout conditions anyway. Wear snowshoes if you're doing this in winter, and if you're aiming for the actual peak, take a good map or GPS route. The last part of this route includes the lift ride down, which probably doesn't really count.
