Having planned the straight route from Seaford to Eastbourne we found there was a train strike, so we devised this circular route. Parking the car in Exceat we walked the magnificent Seven Sisters all the way to Beachy Head where we carried on following the South Downs Way to Jevington, of Banoffee Pie invention fame. Had lunch there at the Eight Bells Pub, not cheap but serving good food including an interesting “deconstruction” of Banoffee Pie. Nice narrow path uphill to finally descend gently under the splendid canopy of beeches through Friston Forest back to Exceat. We missed the frontal view of the Seven Sisters and the unavoidable photo from Seaford Head but enjoyed this pleasant and varied alternative.
