Makra Peak - from Paye Meadows (Autumn attempt with the snow)

We attempted and reached the summit successfully on October 31 2021.
It was autumn/Semi Winter attempt.
Shogran and Siri were completely clear.
Paye meadows was clear too, however there were small patches of snow.

Makra mountain was covered in snow. There were some clear patches but most of it was covered in 6 inches to 2 feet of snow.
There was no snow on the summit and on Kashmir side.

I would suggest to workout it out properly before you depart. Many paths leads to Makra and some are excessively time and energy consuming. As we were off to a wrong path, a local guy told us to go around the hills as it would save the energy and he was completely right. We met with crisp clear weather as against the notorious cloudy weather at Makra which causes people to lose trail and get separated from there groups. Usually on descend people get lost and sometime get injured too. Make sure a good coordination among group members to ensure safety.

It was amazing experience and one must try it during October or early November.
After reaching the base of the mountain, we met with the snow. Luckily we were prepared for that with some experienced hikers with us who broke the trail for us. As we reached the main ridge, summit was still very far. We noticed that trail ahead was already broken, may be a couple of days. It was very helpful and saved most of our energy. From there the climb became even more intense and so were the views with Kaghan on one side and Kashmir on the other.

Summit was clear and we spent a lot time there. As I stared towards kashmir side, little did I knew that I would attempt Makra from Kashmir in 2 years. (however that was unsuccessful).

On return some people slide over snow which saved them both energy and time.

ہم نے کوشش کی اور 31 اکتوبر 2021 کو کامیابی سے چوٹی تک پہنچ گئے۔
یہ خزاں/نیم سرما کی کوشش تھی۔
شوگران اور سری بالکل صاف تھے۔


میں تجویز کروں گا کہ آپ روانہ ہونے سے پہلے اسے صحیح طریقے سے ورزش کریں۔ بہت سے راستے مکرہ کی طرف جاتے ہیں اور کچھ بہت زیادہ وقت اور توانائی خرچ کرتے ہیں۔ جب ہم غلط راستے پر جا رہے تھے، ایک مقامی آدمی نے ہمیں پہاڑیوں کے گرد گھومنے کو کہا کیونکہ اس سے توانائی کی بچت ہو گی اور وہ بالکل درست تھا۔ ہم نے مکرا کے بدنام زمانہ ابر آلود موسم کے مقابلے میں کرکرا صاف موسم دیکھا جس کی وجہ سے لوگ راستے سے محروم ہو جاتے ہیں اور وہاں کے گروپوں سے الگ ہو جاتے ہیں۔ عموماً اترتے ہی لوگ گم ہو جاتے ہیں اور کبھی کبھی زخمی بھی ہو جاتے ہیں۔ حفاظت کو یقینی بنانے کے لیے گروپ ممبران کے درمیان اچھی کوآرڈینیشن کو یقینی بنائیں۔

یہ حیرت انگیز تجربہ تھا اور اسے اکتوبر یا نومبر کے شروع میں ضرور آزمانا چاہیے۔
پہاڑ کی بنیاد پر پہنچ کر ہم برف سے جا ملے۔ خوش قسمتی سے ہم اس کے لیے اپنے ساتھ کچھ تجربہ کار ہائیکرز کے ساتھ تیار تھے جنہوں نے ہمارے لیے راستہ توڑ دیا۔ جیسے ہی ہم مرکزی چوٹی پر پہنچے، سمٹ ابھی بہت دور تھا۔ ہم نے دیکھا کہ آگے کی پگڈنڈی پہلے ہی ٹوٹ چکی تھی، شاید کچھ دن لگیں۔ یہ بہت مددگار تھا اور ہماری زیادہ تر توانائی بچاتا تھا۔ وہاں سے چڑھائی اور بھی تیز ہو گئی اور اسی طرح ایک طرف کاغان اور دوسری طرف کشمیر کے نظارے تھے۔

سمٹ صاف تھا اور ہم نے وہاں کافی وقت گزارا۔ جیسے ہی میں نے کشمیر کی طرف دیکھا، مجھے کم ہی معلوم تھا کہ میں 2 سال میں کشمیر سے مکرہ کی کوشش کروں گا۔ (تاہم یہ ناکام رہا)۔

واپسی پر کچھ لوگ برف پر پھسلتے ہیں جس سے ان کی توانائی اور وقت دونوں کی بچت ہوتی ہے۔
