Parkhouse Hill ( 360 m) the remains of an atoll when the Peak District was submerged by a tropical sea.
High Wheeldon a dome shaped hill overlooking the villages of Earl Sterndale, Crowdicote and Longnor, as well as the Manifold and Dove dale valleys. Supperb!!!
Start from the market place parking at Longnor and take the narrow Bisshop street towards the church.
The ascent to Parkhouse Hill is very steep, you can circumnavigate the hill by simply turn right to Earl Sterndale.
The Quiet Woman dates as Public House back from the early 1600's.
The climb to the top of the High Wheeldon, altough higher (422m) is not diffilcult.
Nowadays there is a concession path to Crowdicote, marked by signposts.
The Parhouse Inn is another lovely pub.
You can take the road as a short cut back to Longnor, more fun it is to return over the fields as the GPS track shows you.
