This hike takes you over and under one of the tallest and longest (timber framed) railway structures in the world. The spectacular Kinsol Trestle which now forms part of the Trans Canada Trail.
Following a mix of forest trails and decommissioned logging roads you will explore the forest on the NW side of the trestle before passing alongside the burbling Koksilah River (Jack Fleetwood trail). The forest trails are sun dappled and lined with salal, oregon grape and ferns. You will pass over a number of small streams which could be muddy in the wet season. There is one steep section (9% grade) starting at waypoint 16, but it is short (600 m).
The Koksilah is not a large river but is very scenic and is an important fish (salmon) bearing river.
There is good parking at the trailhead with pit toilets there and at the Trestle. There is a picnic area with interpretive signs on the N side of the trestle.
The Retreads Hiking Club gives this hike an AVA rating of 3 C.
