Waterfall
Hemmed-in-Hollow falls is the tallest waterfall in the USA between the Rockies and the Appalachians. A great spot for a picnic anytime, but truly spectacular within a few days of a good rain.
Bench trail
This intersecting trail leads off in both directions. Not far to the east is the remains of an old cabin from pre-NPS era and to the west are options to double back to the Compton trailhead via the Sneed's Creek horse trail or head to the Centerpoint Trailhead (5 miles).
Compton Trailhead
Starting point the Hemmed-in-Hollow hiking trail and the Sneed's Creek horse trail.
Parking
Parking for the Compton Trailhead. Space for a dozen cars or more.
River trail
This side trail leads to the area where most watercraft stop to hike up to the falls. There is also a connection to the ORT that crosses the river heading for Kyle's landing.
Steele Creek Trail
This intersecting trail leads south down to a point where the it meets with the Old River Trail near a ford across the river going toward Steele Creek Campground.
