    Great Hike!
    Well done in one day.
How did you magade to get to the starting point and leave from the end point?
Did you stay near the Heavenly lake for the night? When i did my rund the lake hike i was not allowed to enter the park till 8 or 9am. And then still had to take a bus and walk around the lake to reach your starting point.
Are you just traveling through China or living in Urumuqi?
How did you learn about this hike path? It looks like the lake has some permanent base camp i had no idea about.
    Again - Great hike man!

Thanks Krzy! It was actually over 2 days. We took a bus to Tianchi and once we finally got out of the tourist mess started hiking following directions in the Trekking in the TienShan kindle book. The directions were a bit misleading as the books day south exit is in Dabancheng, but that is probably 30 miles further than where we exited. I am glad we did not try and start from there as we would have gotten very confused.

We were picked up by cops hiking through the dry area to the south, so that was a free ride back to civilization!

I think most parties actually start from the south, we saw several and they some English. I think the guidebook is available on kindle. I think the author is Pete Jones. We were in Xinjiang for about 2 weeks. This was the only hike we managed to go on...other places were seemingly off limits to us Americans.
