There's a reasonable amount of up and down, and some steep and rough tracks to navigate. The descent to Camping El Genal is on a mule path and is very steep in places. The section along the River Genal is popular at weekends and includes some built-up walkways to avoid getting your feet wet. The return uphill to Benarrabá is mostly on good tracks and is not too bad a climb! Although you will have earned a beer by the time you reach the village.
The village streets are a bit of a maze and very narrow, so I find it easier to park at the entrance to Benarrabá village near where the camper vans park, but you can try to find a spot in the village itself if you prefer.
I've also done this route ANTICLOCKWISE and posted it to Wikiloc, which does the steep mule path downwards instead of up; but I found it rather too steep going down and prefer this clockwise route. So you can choose which direction you prefer.
路线点

Go straight on, keep following 'Sendero Llanos del Rey 6.3 kms'. See note below
The route to the right, signposted "Sendero Llanos del Rey CORTO" is the short route that will take you back to Benarraba.

At the right hand bend, leave the track and go straight on down a leafy lane
There are views of Benarrabá at the corner. The second photo shows the bend on the track looking back the way you have come

Do not go through the gate, go straight on by a post and down on a steep donkey route
This section is very steep in places and can be slippery so take care

STAY IN THE RIVER BED - see notes below
When you come to the dry river bed, KEEP GOING along the river bed and you soon emerge onto a track. I climbed up the bank and went through a little orchard, but there is a locked gate (I had to climb over the gate) - so it is better to stay in the river bed next time.

Escribana - picnic spot. About 2 hours 45 minutes to here
From the picnic spot and playground, cross the river on the concrete dam and walk uphill on the track opposite and slightly to the right.

Signboard and signposts
From here, turn left and then first right up the steps to the stone water troughs

A fabulous route. Starting from tbe picturesque village of Benarraba and with spectacular views of other white villages and the Genal valley along the way. Interesting section along the side of the river and stiff climb up from the valley!
Easy to follow with informative way points.
Thank you Lindsey
Thank you for your comments, I am delighted you enjoyed the route!
Hola, Elise Bee.
