The Argyle Grand Loop is an unforgettable 18KM circuit weaving together connecting trails from Stages 6 and 7 of the Pekoe Trail, with a stretch that runs directly along Stage 7 itself. This trail offers a sweeping highland experience — a full-day adventure through some of Sri Lanka’s most legendary tea landscapes and vibrant communities.
You’ll pass through endless tea fields and saddle storied estates like Mayfield, Harrington, and Drayton, crossing cool rivers, lush forest patches, and pastoral dairy farms along the way. The route is alive with culture: shrines and wayside altars dot the path, alongside a meditation center, a local training institute, and small hamlets where daily life unfolds.
This is more than just a scenic walk — it’s a window into the beating heart of tea country, where natural beauty and plantation life exist side by side. Expect a blend of panoramic views, intimate encounters, and the quiet rhythm of a working landscape.
Before setting off, we recommend using Wikiloc’s live tracking feature and sharing it with the front office.
Safety & Essentials:
- Wear sturdy walking shoes – surfaces may be uneven, especially during the descent.
- Bring a sun hat and sunscreen, or a raincoat/umbrella depending on weather conditions.
- Ensure your phone is fully charged, and leave your number with the front desk.
- Leech socks may be helpful in wet conditions — though not necessary if dry.
- Carry water and snacks, and take all your rubbish back with you.
- Ask the front office if you'd like a picnic packed.
- Be respectful around religious sites and warmly greet any villagers you pass.
