A circular route that starts at the Cairngorm Mountain ski centre, at the car park.
From there we walked around an hour to the beginn of our climb, slowed down by massive winds and icy puddles on the trail.
Once we reached the foot of the mountain, I put my crampons on, although I was in doubt if these would be a big help on the lower part of the slope, consisting in scree and small boulders.
The thin layer of snow got quicky thicker as we gained altitude, reason for which crampons were an okay choice.
From the lower end of the twin ribs on we roped up and climbed in 5 pitches to the top. The route is quite easy, offering an escape at any given point and being in an overall friendly environment.
From the top of the climb we descended over the ridge of the mountain, straight towards the tourist foot path. We had a wind measuring device with us and recorded up to 67 knots (77mph) on the highest parts.
The gusts and the slippery boulders made the descend a bit tricky, but equally entertaining. It's not every day you stant in a storm like that.
